In prepping to move a WordPress site for a customer, I decided I’d experiment with busymind.net and see how things work.
Using the UpdraftPlus plugin I was able to make a backup of the site, then I went ahead and wiped out and started over with an Ubuntu 20.04 image on the server.
The next step was getting the basic packages (apache, mysql, php, etc.) reinstalled. Then I installed WordPress and configured Apache to work with my preferred configuration. Finally, with a base install of WordPress I reinstalled the UpdraftPlus plugin and restored the website.
It worked!
The final step was to go back through the letsencrypt.org setup and get a certificate reinstalled for the website. Then I went through the WordPress site health survey and made sure all modules were in place. The result is my website on an upgraded server, running the latest updates.
